A Badge is a Web3 certificate that in order to receive it, the person needs to go through a decentralized verification process.

Web3 certificates are similar to traditional certificates, but they have two big differences.

  • The first one is the verification process in order to obtain them. In traditional certifications, the verification process is carried out by a centralized authority, and in Web3 certifications, this process is done in a decentralized way by the community.

  • The second difference is the possible use cases. Having a Web3 certificate enables people to not only use them in the traditional world, but also in the Web3 world. Nowadays, people cannot use normal certificates, such as university degrees, or a course completion diploma, to apply for a job in a Web3 company.

This is because there is currently no way to connect these two worlds. TheBadge and its Web3 certificates allow this by wrapping a real-world certificate into a Web3 version of it.
